Debra Borchert

I’ve had many careers, starting at the age of five as a model at a local country club where my crinoline petticoat dropped to my ankles in the middle of the runway.

Since then, I’ve been a clothing designer, actress (starred in my first TV commercial with Jeff Daniels for S.O.S. Soap Pads), TV show host, spokesperson for high-tech companies, marketing and public relations professional, and technical writer for Fortune 100 companies.

My work has appeared in The New York Times, San Francisco Chronicle, The Christian Science Monitor, and The Writer, among others, and my short stories have been published in anthologies

A graduate of the Fashion Institute of Technology, I incorporate my knowledge of textiles and clothing design in writing historical French fiction. I bring my love of France, wine, and cooking into all my work.

The proud owner of ten crockpots, I’m renowned for my annual Soup Parties where I serve soups from different cultures. My own recipes appear in the backs of my books.

My debut novel, Her Own Legacy, is the first in a series that follows headstrong and resilient women and the four-hundred loyal families who protect a Loire Valley château and vineyard and its legacy of producing the finest wines in France during the French Revolution.

I live in the Pacific Northwest with my family and standard poodle who is named after a fine French Champagne.
